The “Battle of the Corporate Nations” depicts Bezos, Zuckerberg, and Musk battling in a near future after achieving Artificial General Intelligence. The sculpture was inspired by the artist’s 2017 exhibition titled 'The Beginning of The End,' where he warns the public of AI’s upcoming repercussions.
The artist’s decade-long obsession with artificial intelligence was initially dismissed as exaggerated and alarmist. His projections of future scenarios, made by mapping a wide variety of technological, economic, cultural, and political interactions, were considered a matter of science fiction.
In recent years, as the advancements of AI have become more evident to the wider population, Sebastian’s work is now often heralded as visionary and ahead of his time. His texts and talks are helping the public imagine and prepare for a new, unprecedented future.
For 'The Battle of the Corporate Nations,' the artist explains: 'I expect that AI-driven corporations will amass wealth, power, and influence to the extent of surpassing countries in significance. These corporations will initially create their own currencies, then seek sovereign territory, and ultimately establish their own militias.'
“The Battle of the Corporate Nations” was made possible thanks to the generous support of Faena Art.
